Q and A's & Understanding the Tier 5 Visa
In the next few pages I will answer common questions pertaining to this visa.
Before we begin, take a look at the overview section posted below. It lists all the requirements you need to apply.
[Click the links under the images taken from the gov.uk website if you would like to see it in a larger format.]

Melody's Notes
-
2 year visa only!
-
"Certain countries": Speaking from a Canadian standpoint, Canadians are able to apply.
-
Savings of $3,772* in Canadian dollars (*as of Jan.6 2016) and must be proven with a bank statement.
-
"Other eligibility requirements": to be further explained throughout this blog.
Ok, so it looks like I meet all the pre-requisites.
Let's talk money..
Q: How much does the visa cost?
Melody's Notes
-
£225 is $462.98 Canadian*
*according to a Google web search on Jan. 6 2016 (pic to the left.)
-
"HEALTH SURCHARGE"
You must pay this as part of your application. No exceptions!
Similar to obtaining Health Insurance and will help you if you need to see a doctor or require medical treatment in the UK.
-
Pay online by credit card or Visa debit
-
You can get a quote online in case you choose to live in the UK for less then the 2 years. (more details on next page..)

Q: OK, I can pay for the visa itself. Now how much is the health surcharge?

Melody's Notes
-
Focusing on the 2nd bullet point because this visa falls under the category of "all other visa immigration applications":
£200 x 2(years) = £400*(For the full 2 year visa)
*$825 Canadian dollars
*using Google once again.
Wow still looking good!
I am able to obtain the visa AND I have the funds!
So Mel, next question:
Q: Exactly how long can I stay? and can I travel in and out of the UK while I'm there?

(found some delicious goodies too!)
(found Pinocchio in Milan, Italy!)
Right, sounds fair. Let's get a little technical on what I can do there then.
Q: What can and can't I do in the UK, Jeeves?
Melody's Notes
-
Speaking from experience I wasn't able to apply to work as a fight attendant or a travel agent because "I wasn't of British nationality or a member of the European Union." (wah..wah...wahhhh)
-
This visa will restrict you from certain jobs but NOT ALL so don't give up and keep searching for your UK dream job!

MELLLL! I'm really excited. I'm still certain
I can get this visa and I'm ready!
To recap I can:
Obtain this visa,
I have the funds,
And I'm happy to adhere to
the policies of the visa.
-What's Next Mel?
Why, good old fashioned paperwork of
courseeeeee.
Q: What documents do I need to gather
and provide at the visa application centre?
Melody's Notes
-
"A passport size colour photograph" please bare in mind they are requesting a passport photo by British standards NOT Canadian. So when you go into a studio to get your photo taken, remember to tell them it is for a British visa application.
-
If for any reason they don't know the proper dimensions. Melody is here to help. (see picture below)
-
Tuberculosis (TB Test) as a Canadian you DO NOT have to provide this. (I did not hand this in when applying)

(<-British photo dimensions)
On to the next one....on to the next one... ! Ladies and bros, I think your officially ready to apply!
ATTENTION: You need to apply online for this visa
